Prince Sultan Centre
- Architecture
Architectonical, structural design and site supervision of one of the most prestigious shopping mall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, dedicated to the luxurious shopping.
This very recent shopping mall, completed in 2015, will became one of the main attraction centres for the luxurious shopping enthusiastic in Jeddah.
Designed as a shopping street with boutiques on both sides, the building is characterized by the skilful use of precious materials. Outside, the precious marbled panelling realized with Carrara and Black Marquina marbles and coloured glass inserts, increase the value of the boutique-windows and the brands which find the right position and visibility on the inside of the Mall.
The effect is a pure parallelepiped with a large frame on the top part and a sequence of gates, which define the main facade.
The entrances stand out for the presence of full volumes, which give fluidity to the exterior facade and hide inside a huge double height space of the commercial gallery.
Main strength of this design is the glazed cover, made of a sober and elegant steel and glass structure. The huge skylight, which floods the gallery indoors area with natural light, was designed with a strong horizontal feature, which "interrupts” the purity of the building volume and becomes a projection.
